Under the EKUAL Project conducted by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, access is provided to over 2,300 electronic journals published by Springer Nature.
The existing Springer Nature agreement, which is a read-only access agreement, has been converted to a “Read & Publish” model covering the period up to 2026.
Under this second “open access article publishing agreement” at the national level, all universities in Turkey
will continue to have access to more than 2,300 e-journals published by Springer Nature. However, publications by authors from EKUAL Member institutions in the “Original Article,” “Review Article,” and
“Continuing Education” categories in Q1 and Q2 Group Springer Nature Hybrid Journals listed in Web of Science (SCI, SSCI, AHCI)
will be covered under AE support. Publications submitted to and accepted by Springer Nature hybrid journals within the scope of this agreement, where the corresponding author is an EKUAL
member, may be published as “Open Access” without paying an Article Processing Charge (APC), if the author so desires
There is an annual OA article publication quota under this agreement. If the annual OA article publication quota is exhausted, the author of the relevant publication will be required to pay the APC fee themselves or have it paid by their funding institution if they wish to publish their article as OA.
According to the terms of the agreement, there will be no “AE article quota allocation” for institutions. The publication of the responsible author whose article is accepted in the relevant
journals will be published as Open Access if the author so desires.
